Get Paid for Your Manzanita

I am looking for a few people who have access to manzanita, who want to turn it into money.

Right now I am buying 5′ and 6′ long branches. I am paying $6 for 5’tall branches $8 for 6′ tall branches. In a decent manzanita patch, I can find, trim and load an average of 10 pieces per hour. At $6 and $8 per branch, you can do the math. In a great patch, I produce even more.

This is an opportunity for you to spend time outdoors, doing pleasant work, setting your own hours. When you bring the branches to my warehouse in Central Point, I sort and count them, then write you a check on the spot.

If you have manzanita on your property, you can get paid to clean it up and make your property more fire safe. This would be a great opportunity for someone who does forest thinning and fuels reduction work, to have another source of revenue on top of what you are already doing.

Below are examples of what these branches should look like. You can click on the pictures to enlarge them.

These should be two dimensional branches that lay down flat. Notice how there are multiple main forks in the middle of the branch. Not short spurs at the tips. We want multi forked branches that have a classic tree branch shape.

The tips should be around 1/2 inch diameter. No less than 3/8 inch. The branches should be strong and not easy to bend. Anything much smaller than 1/2 inch should be trimmed off. People keep bringing me branches with 1/4 inch tips. I don’t want them. Use a tape measure please, if you don’t know what 1/2 inch is.

The stem should be no longer than 1/3 the length of the branch before the first fork. Ideal stem length is 1/4-1/3 the length of the branch before the first fork. Example: on a 6 foot branch, the stem should be no more than 2′ before the first fork. It doesn’t have to be exact, just don’t make a disproportionately long stem.

Diameter on the base of a 5′ branch should be around 1 1/2 inch to 2 1/2 inch.

Diameter on the base of a 6′ branch should be around 2-3 inches.

Those diameters don’t have to be exact, just a target to shoot for, it is manzanita and I know it varies a lot. I want strong branches, I do not want easy to bend whippy branches.

These must be green fresh cut branches. If they have streaks of gray dead wood in the live branches, that is fine.

I also sometimes buy large trunks like the picture below from 10-20 feet tall. Right now I need 10′ and 13.5 foot pieces. Please contact me about those first to make sure I am buying at the moment.

I have other shapes and sizes I buy too. The ones above are the ones I need as of May 2021. It is best if you cut a few samples, bring them in so we can make sure you are on the right track before getting too carried away.

Contact me through the contact tab or call or text me at 541-890-5545. Bring in a few branches so we can make sure you are on the right track. Then go out and start making money right away. This can be done with hand tools so no worries about fire season restrictions.

Common mistakes people make:

  • They ignore the around 1/2 inch diameter rule for the tips and bring me little whippy branches.
  • They ignore the around 1/2 inch diameter rule for the tips and bring me thick tips that are much thicker.
  • They bring me branches with stems much longer than 1/3 the length of the branch.
  • They don’t have multiple main forks, and instead only have short spurs close to the tips.
  • They are not two dimensional branches that lay down flat.
  • They don’t measure them, they bring me random lengths instead of the lengths I am buying. Use a tape measure please. They can be a couple inches over length, but not under.
